ORTHODONTICS
Orthodontics
Teeth-alignment problems are not only a cosmetic concern — they can also lead to oral- and whole health-related issues such as gum disease, tooth decay, difficulty chewing, and chronic headaches. At KB Smiles Dentistry, our Miami dentists detect potential alignment issues as early as possible in order to best protect your overall health and quality of life, then identify the best orthodontic solution to treat it.
What Is Orthodontics?
Orthodontics is a branch of dentistry that corrects a vast array of dental conditions such as crowding, protruding/poorly spaced teeth, overbites, underbites, and other misalignments. Like an orthodontist, our Jacksonville dentists have extensive experience realigning crooked, overlapping, and gapped teeth using orthodontics, and they can prevent potentially serious problems from occurring. This allows the patient to receive convenient treatment from their dentist and potentially avoid the inconvenience of having to be referred to an orthodontist.
KB Smiles Dentistry’s Orthodontics
The term “orthodontics” most likely evokes images of silver and gray wired braces attached to a teenager’s teeth, along with an endless number of trips to the orthodontist. But modern-day orthodontics allow us to provide some teeth-straightening orthodontic treatments — most of which are clear or nearly invisible — along with routine, restorative, and cosmetic care. Our orthodontic treatments include:
- Invisalign®: A series of clear, removable aligners that straighten your teeth over the course of 12 months
FAQ
Q: How long does it take to straighten teeth?
A: At KB Smiles, we have many teeth-straightening solutions available for patients of all ages, including solutions that are nearly invisible and can significantly change your alignment in as little as six months. The time it will take to straighten your teeth largely depends on the severity of your condition.
Q: What are invisible braces?
A: Like an orthodontist, we are able to straighten your smile with tooth-straightening systems that are nearly invisible, such as Six Month Smiles and Invisalign. Both of these systems use clear materials (i.e., clear brackets and wiring, and removable aligners) that are discreet and comfortable.
Q: Does everyone need braces?
A: No. Only patients with misalignment problems need to wear braces. The best way to find out if you or your child will need braces is to call and set up an appointment for a consultation with our providers.
